Little Sprouts’ infant room is safe, secure and equipped for this particular age group including cribs, swings, rocking chairs, and age-appropriate toys that stimulate early childhood development. Activities focus on motor, sensory, social, and communication skills development with added fun such as music, story time, and outdoor play.
Our teachers strive to create a trusting bond with babies that is built on each child’s individual needs and personality so that they feel safe and secure in their parent’s absence. We personalize our baby care to fit the schedule, nutritional guidelines, and specialized needs they enjoy in their own home. Communication between the parent and teacher is very important at this stage – you will receive a daily report of diaper changes, eating/feeding schedule, nap schedule, and notes about each day’s temperament and every new milestone.
There isn’t a better name for this age group – kids are so fun to watch and play with as they begin to explore their world on their feet! The room, equipment, activities, and toys reflect their growing bodies and increasing independence – in this transitional stage, children begin sitting at tables for meals, using cups, and sleeping on mats. Consistency and a set schedule is particularly important at this stage to help children feel safe and secure; our day is broken up into 15-30 minute activity segments that are the same each day for this purpose. We provide learning activities that focus on speech, language, and cognitive development that allow each child to grow at their own pace. Interaction with other toddlers helps them to interpret their surroundings and the world in their own unique way. There is also a focus on social elements and relationship development such as expressing emotion through words, sharing, taking turns, and being gentle and kind.
Everyone wants to be the teacher’s buddy at this age so it’s a perfect name for this classroom! There is still so much cuddly sweetness in each of them, but they are definitely ready to expand their independence and the lesson plans in this classroom celebrate both. Our daily activities incorporate various types of learning so each child can grow in their own way and at their own pace. Cognitive development and fine motor skills are extended through writing with a pencil, scissor cutting, and independent drawing and painting. Social skills are further enhanced through group play, lessons in sharing, appropriate expression of emotion, manners and patience. Lots of creative play helps stimulate their imagination.
Our Little Buds are getting bigger and taller and forming their own unique identity! Our preschool program is designed to let them flourish socially, emotionally, and intellectually at their own pace. In this group, our teachers work toward enhancing responsive listening skills, increasing length of attention span, fine and large motor skills development, social and emotional well-being, and health and wellness. Socially, children learn greater communication skills, cooperation, team learning, responsibility, and motivational skills to help them prepare for Kindergarten.
